I’ve done all three - at Amazon, Microsoft, startups, and companies that got acquired before you heard of them.

What I Bring

Technical leadership that stays technical. I lead teams and I write code. I refuse to become the kind of executive who can’t review a pull request or debug a production issue. I set technical direction and I can back it up.

Architecture at scale. I’ve designed and shipped systems that serve millions of users across AWS and Azure infrastructure. I know what scales and what collapses under load, because I’ve built both and learned the difference.

Teams that ship. I build engineering cultures where people do their best work. Engineers I’ve mentored hold senior roles at Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, and beyond. I develop leaders, not just contributors.

Regulated environments. I’ve delivered compliant systems under FDA, FIPS, HIPAA, and ITAR requirements - telecommunications, healthcare, defense, biotech. When “move fast and break things” gets you fined or shut down, I know how to build systems that pass audits without sacrificing velocity.

Turnarounds. I’ve been brought in by boards of directors for organizational audits and cleanups. I can diagnose why a team isn’t shipping, restructure what needs restructuring, and get things moving again. I’m direct about what I find.

Accessibility that saves you money. I have family members with vision impairments, and that shaped how I think about building software. Most companies find out they have accessibility problems when the audit bill arrives or the lawsuit lands. When you hire me, accessibility is built into the engineering standards I set - which means your products pass WCAG audits the first time, your ADA exposure drops, and you reach the 15-20% of users your competitors are turning away. Other candidates might check the “accessibility awareness” box. I’m the one who actually prevents the six-figure remediation cycle from starting.


How I Work

I prefer full-time roles. Principal or director-level engineering leadership, fully remote, W-2 direct hire, Pacific Time. I commit for years when the fit is right. I’m not looking for a title - I’m looking for hard problems and good people.

I’m also open to consulting engagements for organizations that need architecture review, team assessment, technical due diligence, or interim leadership. These are scoped engagements with clear deliverables.

Either way, I operate with integrity. I say what I mean, I do what I say, and I expect the same.


What I Don’t Do

I’m not a staff augmentation resource. I don’t do on-site work. I don’t take roles where the real job is maintaining the status quo while pretending to improve things. And I don’t work with organizations that treat engineers as interchangeable.
